Book party: Book parties are one way that Big Brother Mouse gets books to children in rural Lao villages. In primary schools we read from books, play games, sing songs, and have a drawing lesson. In high schools, we have a different set of activities. At the end, every student gets to choose a book, usually the first book they've ever owned. Then we give more to the school, for their library or classroom use.

This event was sponsored by Manoj Paul (United States). Thank you!

Two girls are reading No Bananas, one of our easiest books. But the girl in the middle is holding her book upside-down.

Books are still new for these kids. This particular girl may not be able to read. It would seem like she'd notice the pictures are upside down but often we've seen that when children pick up a book for the first time in their life, they don't quickly orient it right-side up. With more exposure to books, she'll enjoy it as much as her two friends.
